The sport watch I bought for my trip to Australia in 2005 just died. Sad…but not bad for $20.
so if you invite me out to meet your new boyfriend and we spend a lengthy soho brunch getting to know each other and then we all go boot shopping together and you quietly ask me what I think of him…
…you should expect me to give my opinion. and if my opinion is that he’s an ass who’s not treating you with respect, and you don’t like that, then don’t ask me. simple as that!
and PS, my new boots are super cute —
Just sold my tv and DVD for $60 to an incredibly annoying college kid. Good riddance!!!
just had the best catch-up and coffee with my friend in from pakistan at this cute cafe on essex and grand [keltim alert! you must know it.] i am glad i do not live in pakistan, is all i’m saying. all the best to her - her assignment ends next june, so she’s got a ways to go. then she goes to david’s new favorite place, hong kong, for a year.
so on the way home i caught the express bus by mistake and had to walk back a bit from 23rd. i passed a flower shop that i’ve never gone into and it said closed on sunday but their light was on and people were in so i entered. i met the most wonderful older woman, had to be about 70 or 80, named ros [pronounced roz] who runs the place. she was a dream. helped me pick out a plant i wont kill, transplanted it for me, gave me all kinds of care tips. she was a tough old nyc bird and i adored her.
so…got the plant home and popped it by the window…looked at the little stake stuck in it…and guess what kind of plant it was?
a jazz plant.
folks, you can’t make this kind of this up. talk about meant to be.
i’ve named her ella. as in fitzgerald.
and in more good news…you all know i took my tv away, stuck it in a closet? which i love, not having tv? well, this morning someone bought it on craigslist and is coming to pick it up in an hour. this 10-year-old tv just fetched $50. whoo hoo!
Another good friend is leaving NYC. Hmm. Am I missing a trend? It’s like the great exodus. Sad. Luckily I have a crapload of miles and can go visit, but still miss the NYC expats (you know who you are!) Speaking of visit…my friend is in town this weekend from Pakistan. Can’t wait to hear how her new life is. I worry about her! Realized I have not been to see a live show (except the killers) since spring. I’m so into jazz right now and current music bores me. Chet, ahmad, Coltrane, Ella and Louis… And finally…feels Like Xmas in NYC now. Dark, cold and tourist-heavy.
Chet baker…god, I love jazz New sneakers…after four years it was time and it feels soooo much better Reading. Does that ever change? Finished ‘brooklyn’ and now on a thriller then a book Lucy’s book club is reading about the holocaust and Paris Meryl Streep in Julie and Julia LA. Yes, I actually have grown to like it! Capes. Bought a grey wool one for fall and it’s ever so cute Decaf. I’m a whole different person when I am uncaffeinated. Puppies and babies. Home magazines—ID, dwell, house beautiful Florence and the machines (and going to see them soon) San pellegrino with lemon. Shrimp. Broadway. Loved hamlet and a steady rain, next is miss Julie Wearing no makeup on weekends Champions lululemon knockoff black yoga pants. Cheap and chic!! Having people over instead of going out
My goal, as previously stated to some of you, is to lose 40 Lbs by the time I turn 40 in may. I can use your support! So far I have: Given up soda Drinking rarely Joined a gym and using it Cooking at home
What else works for you skinny people? Thanks!
so much to catch up on, no?
a bit of amusement, for starters. looking back to my luckily-brief part in fashion week and remembering some of the more interesting people i met. tinsley mortimer. euan rellie, who is gorgeous, charming and british, and married to lucy sykes. then in LA was driving alongside drew barrymore and her BF justin long. in a prius [them, not me].
so much more to tell, but it’s bed time. another day, then…
the man can act. truly. although his hairpiece was pretty obvious.
his performance tonight in hamlet on broadway was stunning and exceptional. rush to see it if you are in nyc.
all of his personal life drama aside, he is really gifted.
RIP darryl curtis. outsiders, one of my favorite movies ever.
Darrel Curtis: You smoke more than a pack today and I’ll skin you. Understood?
Ponyboy: Yeah. You carry more than one bundle of roofing at a time and me an’ Soda’ll skin you. Understood?
Love when my 64 yr old mother suggests, “let’s stay up all night our last night in Geneva and not get a hotel room!”
my new toy comes tomorrow. i’ve been tracking it on ups. here it is.
it’s the nespresso essenza espresso maker. and frother. it’s swiss. and so cute. and apparently makes a killer, perfect cup o’. and…i may be slightly obsessed. i researched compact espresso machines ad nauseum and have concluded this is the best use of my money. and everyone in europe is raving about it, so that’s a good sign since they apparently know espresso slightly better than we do.
hold tight for the reviews once it arrives tomorrow.
